Our September Newsletter is out and includes:

Join us October 13th!: Join us for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) Thursday October  13th, 2016 @ 6:30pm at the St John’s Polish National Catholic Cathedral, 186 Cowan Ave (basement hall). The meeting is open to the public and all are welcome to attend. Enjoy snacks, meet community leaders & learn more about what the BIA does! Do you want to join our Board!?:   The Parkdale Village BIA wants you to join the Board of Directors! The BIA is governed by a volunteer Board of Management made up of eleven members serving a four-year term concurrent with the term of Council. The Board works on behalf of its BIA members (the shop owners & property owners), along with an Executive Director & Assistant Coordinator and meets regularly to ensure Marketing and Streetscape Strategies are implemented. Monthly meetings generally take place the first Monday of every month from 6:30-8:30pm at the PVBIA office. If you are interested in applying please contact us today for more details.

Tree for Me: The Parkdale Residents Association (PRA) is hooking up with the Toronto Parks and Tree Foundation to offer free trees to Parkdale Residents. Volunteers are needed for the Tree for Me event, contact [email protected] or attend an information session at High Park Nature Centre on either:
Sept 22nd 6-8pm or Sept 25th 10am-12pm.

 

Dufferin Street Bridge: Metrolinx will be hosting their second drop-in session at the Carnaby Condominium located at 10 Minowan Miikan Lane (formerly 11 Peel Avenue) on September 29, 2016 from 5 to 7p.m. Representatives from Metrolinx will be there to answer any questions you may have about the Dufferin & Queen Street Bridge closure. Need more Brochures?: In addition to recently being distributed (over 500) at the CNE to visitors, the Parkdale Directory Brochures are also displayed at local Bed & Breakfasts for tourists and tourism locations in downtown Toronto such as hotels & Union station etc.  The brochures are also displayed in over 100 Parkdale shops – if you need more or are interested in making them available at your shop or office, please contact us.

February Newsletter: Parkdale Love, MPAC & Digital Main Street

Our February Newsletter is out and covers items such as:

  • Parkdale Love: Thank you to everyone who supported the Parkdale Village 137th Year Anniversary campaign & reception! Photos from our community reception are now on Facebook & Website courtesy of photographer Kendra Marjerrison.    Our campaign saw over 100 community leaders, shops & residents get together to celebrate our rich history and make connections. Additionally, we saw great imitative from the many shops offering incentives during the campaign and a big thank you to the shop owners who provided door prizes for the reception. We encourage you to continue the Parkdale Love, meet your neighbors, promote each others businesses, work together and help build another 137 years of Parkdale!
  • 2016 Event & Marketing Snapshot:A reminder that the 2016 Event & Marketing snapshot has been distributed, please check your mailboxes, additionally our website for details. We have started to receive inquiries about participating in upcoming events or requesting support in promoting your marketing/promotions, remember we are here to help so please reach out to us.
  • Vandalism: We have seen increased damage and vandalism to our winter floral plants within the planters this season. If you see any vandalism please contact us, likewise if the planters are damaged or need to be cleaned out.
  • Graffiti Removal Contract: In the coming weeks we will be posting a Request for Estimate regarding the extended maintenance contract for Graffiti Removal within our BIA. The RFE will be available online, once a vendor is awarded the contract we will notify members about the extended Graffiti removal service and how this may benefit your business even more.
  • Digital Main Street: We’re excited to announce that the Parkdale BIA is taking part in a City of Toronto & TABIA pilot project ‘Digital Main Street Portal’.  Free to BIA members, the Digital Main Street Portal helps small businesses navigate the often confusing and overwhelming online universe. From helping set up a Facebook business page to deciding what Point of Sale system is the right choice, the Digital Main Street Portal is Toronto small businesses guide to all things digital.A select group of BIA businesses & organizations have been chosen for the pilot phase and will be contacted within the next few weeks. If you have any questions about this program please contact us today.
  • MPAC Property Assessment Session: As always, MPP Cheri DiNovo will be hosting a residential MPAC information Session to assist residents with questions they may have about their assessment, how it works and what to do if they disagree with the assessment.

  • Reminder the summer series of Good Food Markets takes place every Wednesday from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm in Masaryk Park, just south of Queen St. W on Cowan Ave. If you are a BIA member contact us today to learn how you can participate in the market for free!
  • Join us at our monthly Board Meeting which generally take place the first Monday of every month from 6:30-8:30pm at the PVBIA office, if you would like to attend please contact the Executive Director to confirm schedule.
