The Parkdale Village Business Improvement Area (BIA) is a municipally designated business association representing over 250 businesses along Queen Street West, from Roncesvalles Avenue to Dufferin Street, in one of Toronto’s most diverse and culturally rich communities.

Our mission is to drive economic growth, foster community engagement, and elevate the visibility of local businesses through innovative marketing and strategic initiatives.

We are seeking a creative, deliberate, and results-driven Marketing & Social Media Coordinator to take our digital presence to the next level.

This part-time, independent contractor role is ideal for a digital marketing professional who thrives in a fast-paced, community-oriented environment. This opportunity is also open to all applicants, including companies, freelancers, and other professionals.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As the Marketing & Social Media Coordinator (Contract), you will develop and execute digital marketing strategies to enhance brand awareness, increase community engagement, and drive foot traffic to local businesses.

You will manage the BIA’s Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, create high-quality content, and oversee social media campaigns aligned with key community initiatives and events.

This role is perfect for a content creator, social media strategist, or digital marketer who excels in storytelling, audience engagement, and data-driven strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media & Content Strategy

  • Oversee and grow the BIA’s Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok presence.
  • Create and implement a weekly content schedule, producing at least three (3) original static posts and one (1) reel per week through on-site visits to member businesses.
  • Maintain an Annual Content Calendar, aligning campaigns with key cultural and community events (e.g., Black History Month, Tibetan Heritage Month, etc.).

Content Creation & Community Engagement

  • Create, design and publish digital content (graphics, images, videos, reels, captions, stories).
  • Repost and amplify content from BIA businesses, supporting their marketing efforts.
  • Engage with members by responding to messages, comments, and mentions in real time.

Marketing & Promotions

  • Develop and manage campaigns to promote BIA events and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with influencers, community groups, and local businesses to enhance visibility.
  • Analyze audience insights to tailor strategies that drive engagement and foot traffic.

Analytics & Performance Optimization

  • Track key performance metrics (follower growth, engagement rates, reach, impressions).
  • Provide monthly reports with actionable insights and recommendations for content optimization.
  • Work closely with the BIA Marketing & Events Subcommittee and BIA Manager to align strategies with organizational goals.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Stay ahead of social media trends, algorithm changes, and best practices.
  • Execute any additional mutually agreed-upon tasks related to marketing, campaigns, and communications.

CONTRACT DETAILS

  • Start Date: April 14, 2025
  • End Date: December 31, 2025
  • Duration: 8 Months, 17 Days
  • Location: Queen Street West – Roncesvalles Ave. to Dufferin Street, Toronto, ON
  • Format: Hybrid (Remote & On-Site as Required)
  • Hourly Rate: $25 Per Hour
  • Weekly Hours: 12 Hours Per Week
  • Contract Compensation: $1,200

Note: This is an independent contractor position (not an employee role). The contractor is responsible for own tax remittances, WSIB coverage, liability insurance, and deductions.
